FIVE IRREPLACEABLE SHADOW WORK LESSONS

Trust me. You'd rather learn them here.

Trying to grow spiritually without shadow work is like putting a seed on your countertop and expecting it to grow. You need dirt so that it can germinate. It needs dirt to plant its roots.

“No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell"

-Carl Jung

I think it’s high time we got some actual assistance in the community with shadow work. Too often we see people encompassed by spiritual ego, preaching up from high leverage points about how they’re so enlightened and positive that they can Love and Light their way through the world.

No one ever wants to lower the vibration to see more than just the high vibe side of things. Humans innately seek quick pleasure and comfort, just an animalistic side of things. But to evolve from the primitive mind, we must expand our horizons both inward as well as outward.

Introducing the Dark Night of the Soul

On your spiritual excursion you will encounter a plethora of expansive experiences. You’ll feel like you’ve touched the truth of the universe, maybe you’ll feel like you witnessed an angel… You may even find yourself seeing auras.

One thing that is 100 percent certain on this path (as well as life):

You WILL have lows.

Now, when I was knee deep in depression, I assumed that lows were mandatory. It was just my daily experience, thankfully I was able to cleanse myself of that dense energy and FINALLY seek out the greatness of all that there is, and I always feel like I get happier now as the days go on.

However, when I walked onto the spiritual path, I genuinely believed that there was no way to go but UP the spiral.

Boy was I fucking wrong.

Anyways, here’s number one, probably the one that will get you through all of the tiny shitty things that can happen in a day.

1. What goes up must come down.

Wait, are we talking about gravity here? Nope. Kind of. They’re similar in metaphor. You see, just as you have those spiritual moments where EVERYTHING JUST FEELS… ALIGNED. You’re going to have moments where everything feels like a heavy weight. Like the world is falling on you, or that maybe you were never aligned at all. Some people say that it’s the Universe “testing you” but I’d like to call bullshit on that because there are no real TESTS, just simply experiences that coincide with your current reality. I believe in a friendly universe, and any challenge that presents itself is just part of the path.

When you have highs, you have inevitable lows. It is all apart from the great balancing act of positive and negative energies in this universe. The trick is to keep them in balance, whatever life throws at you.

2. No one is coming to save you. Not even Jesus.

My intention is not to be cruel here. This is one of those lessons that took me forever. I thought that I could just manifest a sugar daddy by being the boss of my reality but no. Just because in your mind you think that you’re mighty, powerful, the slaying warrior doesn’t mean that the whole reality around you will treat you as such. Especially in manifesting. But by seeking for some outside savior, especially in times of trial is only going to further drain your energy. You give up your sovereignty as a spiritual being when you seek outside of yourself for material possessions and new life plans.

The reason I bring Jesus into this scenario is that because that’s one of the biggest most popular idioms of our modern culture. “Jesus Saves” people believe that they will get the savior  want, or they force themselves into painful boxes to please said savior. When it comes down to it, it traps you in a perpetual cycle of victimhood that could transcend even lifetimes.

You can find it within yourself to DO ANYTHING. I promise you. But just because no one is coming to save you, doesn’t mean that you’re ever alone.

3. You’re never alone.

I used to think that I was the loneliest person in the world. Even when I knew that I was being guided or watched over, I always felt like I was being taunted, or even played with.

It was rare, but I still met people on the street who were genuinely kind, open, and had great advice. What I didn’t know at the time was that they were somewhat akin to real earth angels, kind of like I am.

When I believed that I was alone, that was all that I would see. Even when I had positive experiences, conversations, or would have sacred moments throughout my life I just never had the capacity to feel anything other than the blackness inside.

I realized that feeling alone is just a mix of beliefs and Ideas about how our reality really works.

When we are connected to every single being living or dead throughout the cosmos. We all make up an intricate tapestry of thought, emotion, color, vibration to fit one whole being.

It feels strange at first, but I remember when I first felt the concept of Oneness.

I was way too stoned and walking through my old neighborhood, and I ended up petting my neighborhood cat. It was strange but as I pet her head, I felt this intense connection that seeped out from the top of my head and outwards, connecting to her, the ground, the trees. I felt as if I was both everything around me, yet none of it at all.

But you don’t have to have profound intensities, especially when you’re high.

You can just make a commitment to yourself to think.

“I am never alone.”

This one is important to me. Thank you.

4. Resistance is Futile

Ah, the hot topic of resistance. The “what you resist persists” What with it all and how you can’t resist the pain no matter what.

Yes. It sucks.

No; it has nothing to do with accepting abuse.

Yes, you must accept things you don’t like.

But really, what is resistance?

It’s when you disregard your current paradigm and it normally occurs when you are in a mode of force, which is any time you try to force things in your reality to change without changing yourself first.

It’s also like how you think that you should do something for a long time, but then never do it.

Resistance is futile.

A great saying that has helped me IMMESNLY.

“What you resist persists, when you accept dissolves.”

I’d ask of you to think about things that you resist in your life. Like friends that you let back in your life over and over and you expect a different result, or how your parents annoy you.

If you accept these things, you don’t expect anything different, suffering subsides.

This next one blew my mind.

5. Your soul has no likes or dislikes.

EVERYBODY RUN.

HER EGO HAS FUCKING EXPLODED.

I’M TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE THIS IS JUST STILL SO CRAZY TO ME AND WHEN I HEARD IT, I ROLLED MY EYES AND HEART FLUTTERED.

When you say that your soul is being depleted, when you say that your soul is tired…

It’s not your soul. It’s your human form.

YOU incarnated onto earth to experience life to its fullest capacity.

Pain, pleasure, ecstasy, annoyance, upheaval, comfort, sex, pressure. Taste, Smell Feeling, Seeing.

You chose your parents; you chose your beginnings; you chose this life.

Just because you disagree doesn’t make it any less true.

If this angers you, I understand.

If this enlightens you, I understand.

If this confuses you, I understand as well.

What I really really want to say about it all is that just because you came here to experience it all, doesn’t mean that you came here to suffer.

Your soul came here to fulfill a unique and divinely orchestrated purpose.

Your soul came here to fulfill the great work.

It is painful, it is tough, but it is ALWAYS worth it.

And just because your soul has no likes or dislikes doesn’t make it machine like

Because the Soul does one thing well,

And that is to LOVE all that there is.

Even the shittiest things.
